Military Macaw

The Military is a beautiful parrot. The head is an iridescent green running down the neck, turning a yellow green half way down the back. At the middle of the back, the coloring is a teal blue down to the tail, which is red with teal blue outer feathers and yellow underneath. The chest is iridescent green. The wings are an iridescent yellow green with teal blue on the primary and secondary flight feathers. The crowning glory are the brilliant red puffy feathers at the nares. Tiny facial feathers are red and black. Some articles have referred to them as being nippy. I have not found that to be the case. They do like to "mouth" your hands, but with proper training, they learn not to bite down too hard. The Military is only SLIGHTLY smaller than the Blue & Gold Macaw.
