Cage sizes for the Macaws are very important.  The bird needs to be able to stretch it's wings and flap them without hitting the sides of the cage.  If the bird spends more than sleeping time in it's cage, the sizes shown are a necessity.   You should purchase the largest cage you can afford.  I have included pictures of 2 cages that I recommend for the Greenwing, Blue & Gold, Scarlet and Hyacinth.  I will be taking pictures of cages for the smaller birds and posting them on the site at a later date.

I also have pictures of the carrier we ship the birds in.  This carrier is approved by ICAO/IATA, the governing force for shipping live animals via air.  These carriers have plenty of room for the bird to turn around in without cramping.  Remember, even though the flight may not be long, the bird has to be at the dock 2 hours before flight.  If the flight has a layover, that also has to be taken into consideration.  I request that I be informed as soon as possible after pickup so that I know the baby is safe.

Another consideration for the baby bird once he/she is in your home, is adding a play gym.  The baby can spend a long time on this type of play gym enjoying the freedom of being out of his/her cage without you having to hold them.  It is important that the baby learn that he/she has to play by themselves in addition to playing with you.  Afterall, you don't want a "velcro" bird.  You DO have to interact with this Macaw every day.  This means hold him/her and preening.  But after awhile, you can put them on the play gym for the remainder of their time out of cage.
